continuity editing

me and my group filmed a shot piece of someone walking into a room and sitting down in a chair where they then proceeded to engage in a few lines of dialog with another character under a spot like (like an interrogation). we used the 180 degree rule, and an eye line match as the basis of the project and it included over the shoulder shots and pans in the piece. i think it went well because it flowed well and had good continuity, it was brief and easy to interoperate. it could have been improved by a better use of lighting and more effects and effort put into the editing process. It created a sense of the genre because it was dark and mysterious without being scary or eerie. it gave the feeling of a detective mystery story.

  1. You are already a confident camera operator and your continuity exercise is convincing. Your lighting helped to identify the genre and that is what I would like you to add to this evaluation above.

    1) How did you create a sense of genre?
    2) What are your strengths and weaknesses in camerawork?
    3) What are your strengths and weaknesses in editing?
